ATC Swap and a Page

I’m in the Lifebook class and was able to sign up for a couple ATC swaps. The first one was daily ritual. I don’t do anything meditative or ritualistic in the sense that some others may do but I do have a cup of coffee every morning, love checking the mail, feeding the squirrels and birds, and watering the plants. So I incorporated some bits to my ATC’s to represent those activities.

Here you see my completed cards. I made a set for my swap partner and a set for myself. The criteria was to make two cards for our one partner. The background was made with craft paints and using a natural sponge to dab it on. I also used some Graphic45 stamps.

Here is a closeup of my little coffee cup. I cut it from brown paper and used pencils to color it. The coffee is LuminArte Silks glaze. The steam is Liquid Pearls. The little plant is highlighted on the flowers with Stickles.

This next picture shows the tiny vellumn envelope that I put a heart, plant leaf, and water droplet confetti inside. The piece of “air mail” is a sticker.

Here is the little wood veneer bird by Studio Calico that I added. I colored it then added some Liquid Glass over it.

The next set of ATC’s I only made a set for my swap partner and not one for myself. This theme was bugs and insects. For the left side card I took some patterned scrapbook paper and added it to the ATC card. I then used some watered down gesso to mask out a single shape for a flower. I used Liquid Pearls to decorate the flower and give it a stem. Across the top I added some lacy cut paper tape. On the flower and the tap I included a ladybug sticker. They were both covered in Liquid glass with a tiny bit of glitter. along the bottom of the card is a piece of rub on. The right side card I cut a piece of scrapbook paper that looked a bit like honeycombs. I added a line of black liquid glass to divide the card and added watered down gesso to mask out the background. I also used some Liquid Pearls and Liquid glass on some of the individual chambers. The bees are stickers and I added liquid glass to their wings. The Bzz Bzz is using a Studio G stamp set (the dollar bin ones).

Yesterday I felt inspired to do a page in my spiral bound art journal. I used gelatos to create the background colors. I then used some modeling paste through a checkerboard stencil. I also sprayed some color through it. I used Stazon ink trough a swirling stencil to add a pop of black. I took some of the deli paper flowers I showed a couple posts back and attached them to the page with matte gel medium. I also cut apart some die-cut shapes (the circles) which I colored using distress ink in Dusty concord. After everything was dry I high-lighed the flowers and shapes using my Faber Castell big brush pitt pens

I had a lot of fun making these projects. It felt good to get another page done in my art journal too. My Mojo seemed to have run off in regards to that aspect of my creativity and was only centering on making recycled materials books. I even got part of my week 15 page for 48 weeks done. Today it’s on to continuing it and hopefully get that posted in a couple days.

Hope everyone is having an art/craft filled week.

Napkin Swap

Just a quick post to show the other two sets of napkins I received from the people in my swap group. All the napkins that I got were different, so much fun!
Really love the Asian theme black and white one on the right and also the butterfly/dragonfly in the top left.

This one also included a few pieces of patterned tissue paper.

I have started making videos for you tube but so far all I have done is a couple of “haul” video. Just things I picked up during shopping trips. When I make a “tutorial” or “flip and talk about” I will link the video here to share.

Hope everyone is having a great week. Almost the weekend!

KIF Napkin Swap & Week 13

Been a little behind with my 48 weeks pages. It’s hard to find the time to sit down and do them when you have company. My Mom came out for about a month so she could be here for both kid’s birthdays. I did manage to get week 13 finished and I’ve also been part of a napkin swap with KIF.

First here is week 13 from Donna,

week13

and here is mine

Here are a few close-ups of some of the page texture and how the paint caught on it. This was a pretty fun page.

Next up is the KIF napkin swap. Napkins can be used many ways to add interest and texture to your mixed media creations. If you remember I used napkins on my idea cards here: https://bluecrafty.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/new-art-journal-pages-deck-of-cards/

Naturally, different areas of the US and world will receive different assortments of napkins in their stores. Because there are so many kinds out there KIF had a napkin swap where we could share some of those fun napkins with each other to expand our choices for projects. We were put into groups of five and were to send out 10 napkins to each person in the swap. (four mailings per person) 10 different ones (of course if possible). Additionally patterned tissue paper could be used to finish out the 10 if someone only had eight kinds etc. I wont show what I sent out just in case someone in my group peeks at my page. Don’t want to ruin their fun by seeing what they get before it makes it to them. Here are the envelopes I decorated for them. The blue paper is covering the person’s mailing address for privacy. I splattered some metallic water colors on the paper and also added a handmade stamp image. Sealed the package using some fun butterfly packing tape.

There are a couple I know I will never use so I will add them to my RAK (random act of kindness) box to be included in some “happy mail” for someone else. When using them in your project, it is sometimes best to separate the layers. Most good napkins are triple ply. You only really need the layer that has the images on it.

I have a couple more things I have been working on but I will save those for the next posting. I hope everyone has been having a great art and crafty couple of weeks.
